Red MINI Cooper Warning Light Meanings
Several MINI Cooper warning lights show up red on the dashboard. If you notice one of the following red MINI Cooper dashboard lights while driving around Mission, this is what it means:
- Brake System: The brake system light is a red exclamation point inside a circle. It indicates an issue with your brake system, so you should come in for an inspection as soon as possible.
- Parking Brake: Your parking brake is still engaged, and you need to release it before continuing.
- Approach Control Warning: This is a warning that you’re too close to the car ahead of you.
- Person Warning: If you see a red MINI Cooper warning light symbol of a person, it’s a warning of a potential collision with a pedestrian. You will also receive an audible warning.
Orange MINI Cooper Warning Light Meanings
A couple of MINI Cooper warning lights are orange, and they indicate the following to Leavenworth drivers:
- Active Cruise Control: If your MINI has Active Cruise Control and the system is in use, the number of bars tells you what your pre-set distance is from the car ahead of you.
- Vehicle Detection: When Active Cruise Control is in use, the car icon will appear if it detects a car in front of you. If the light is flashing, it means the system cannot function properly under the current conditions.
Yellow MINI Cooper Warning Light Meanings
Yellow is yet another color you’ll see for MINI Cooper warning light symbols, including the MINI Cooper yellow engine warning light. Read more about the yellow dashboard lights below.
- Engine Light: A solid MINI Cooper yellow engine warning light tells you of issues with your car’s emission system. If the light is flashing, it may indicate excessive engine misfires.
- Tire Pressure Monitor: The Tire Pressure Monitor icon is a yellow tire with an exclamation point in the middle. When you see this light, it indicates low pressure in one or more of your tires. Fill your tires to the correct pressure and inspect for things like nail punctures that could be causing a slow leak. After correcting the tire pressure, the light should go off. If the light stays on or flashes, you may need to reset the TPMS.
- Steering System: A yellow steering wheel icon indicates an issue with your steering system. With this warning light, you should schedule service as soon as possible.
- Anti-Lock Braking System: If you see the yellow “ABS” warning light, the brake force boost may malfunction, and you should avoid sudden braking. Take your car in for service immediately.
